I have prepared this tutorial for the TradeCard SourceView SE Label Printer installation. You may ask why am i needed to make this tutorial? Because i don’t want you to lose your valuable time during implementation phase like me and simply i love to share the information
Me and TradeCard Business Analyst Sakvithi De Silva were in our facility for the TC SE implementation last week. Everything was going well except label print method from server through workstation. We have tried to print out package label but it didn’t work. First day we have lost a lot of time cause of printer issues. I have tried everything about the printer installation and sharing but had no luck. So we have to quit in the evening. There was workgroup network configuration between computers in this facility.
Second day we have moved to another facility. There was a domain configuration in this facility. Sakvithi made a contact with his friend and we had some clues about the installation. Then i have installed printer quickly and printed out the sticker without any problem.
Actually it’s basic printer installation procedure. But there are some tricks that you should apply. I’ll show you the important steps and i will skip the basic operations.
Lets begin with the workstation part.
We will install locally connected barcode label printer to workstation from driver cd/file. We had Zebra S4M ZPL (200 dpi).
- Click to Add Printer from printers section, then choose local printer and select local port.

- Install correct driver from your source.
- Name the printer whatever you want. And make it default printer. Prefer ASCII characters for the naming. For example i named the printer as “zebra”.

- Share it with the same name.

- Go on and finish with the installation.

That’s all for the workstation part. Lets look at the server part.
We will install remote barcode label printer (connected to workstation) to server from local port.
- Begin with the Add Printer Wizard.
- Choose Local Printer again like workstation part.

- This time choose “Create a New Port” and Select “Local Port” and click Next.

- Type the network path of shared printer on workstation as below (Do not need to add .local suffix)

- Then install same driver which is installed on workstation.

- Give same name to printer and then share it with the same name like you did on workstation.

- Go on and finish with the installation.
- Add permission to server side printer for a client.

- Then click the “List in the directory” option. I don’t know if it is important or not, but you may try it.

That’s all. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and it suit you well.
Good luck.
